Biography:
Music has long been part of my life, first forced upon me at age 5 by my violin
teacher of a mom.
I grew to appreciate it over the years as it gave me a solid foundation of rhythm, timing,
dynamics, pacing; all concepts that are crucial in the art of editing. I became interested
in
filmmaking around 7th grade, when my friends and I shot lightsaber duels on our parents’
camcorders for a class project. From then on I was hooked and tried to shoot videos for as
many
class projects as I could throughout high school.
At UCLA I decided it would become my profession, and the moment I tried splicing
film on a
flatbed, I knew I loved editing over all disciplines. That experience of cutting film on a
physical level transformed the way I thought about digital editing. Every cut mattered, and
while mistakes were not irreversible, they were costly to fix. I’ve maintained that mindset
and
handle every project since with the same thoughtfulness, care, and detail.
As my career progressed, I tried to say “Yes” to any task given.
“Can you color correct these shots?”
“Can you fix this audio so we don’t have to re-shoot?”
“Can you composite this green screen footage?”
This led to me learning a vast amount of technical skills across various software and
becoming
a powerful end-to-end “Post-Production Generalist” as I like to call it; the “Generalist”
term being a nod to the 3D/Game Development field.
